201 MPs thank president for landmark speech at UN
A statement read out in formal session of the parliament by MP Jahanbakhsh Mohebbinia on behalf of 201 MPs acknowledged gratitude to the president for the comprehensive platform to resolve international crises from humanitarian perspective rather than initiating war and conflict in the name of the international campaign against terrorism.
"His Excellency, the president defended the humanitarian values and principles of the Islamic Revolution calling for dialogue and understanding in the international community in a way that those holding negative attitude toward Iran were left in desperation in the eye of the world leaders," the statement said in reference to isolation of the U.S. President George W. Bush who delivered an inaugural address to the UN General Assembly.
President Ahmadinejad's keynote speech to the General Assembly received extensive coverage by the U.S. media in light of the initiatives he put forward to the international community to resolve the international crises and not to fan the flames of war.
